Forbidden City
After all that, we were taken to a silk factory where we learned how silk is made. I got to take the silk from the cocoon and "pull" it onto a bedspread. It was really fun!

But the best part of the Silk Factory was that they gave me two silk cocoons!!! One was a single cocoon, and one was a double! How cool is that!
Tomorrow we fly into Guangzhou and on Monday we meet Betsy. I can't believe that it's finally here! We received an update this morning at our orientation meeting and she looks as cute as ever. Our prayer is that she likes us.

Emmie and Tina,
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you've read The Red Scarf Girl, but it's a great book about Chairman Mao and the Cultural Revolution in China. I think you'd both really like it. Sounds like you are all having a social studies experience. My students and I wish we could go to China!

You've been on my mind a lot today. Delighted to hear everyone is enjoying China! Will be thinking of you tomorrow as you meet Betsy. Savor the indescribable joy! Love, Kim
